Red Tent

To know more read the interview with Satya Kaur, by Ana Ferreira.

“This is a place where women are allowed to Be rather than continually Do…

Every cycling woman knows the deep yearning for quietude during her Flow time.

Every ounce of our body and soul calls for rest, while our culture calls us to keep going, no matter what.

The ‘Red Tent,’ ‘Moon Hut,’ or ‘Moon Lodge, as they were known in indigenous cultures around the world, was a place of respite for women of old and ancient traditions.

Much more of a fictional novel, “The Red Tent” by Anita Dimant evokes in women a cellular memory of an experience we all shared, for millenniums, around the globe.

Once awakened, this memory becomes a need, a yearning, a birthright…

We recognize that having a place to go to when we flow, weekly, will make our lives different in profound ways, as well as change the lives of those around us, and ultimately the world!”

Objective

Introduction to the concept of a community space exclusively for women and girls, during the menstrual period or when they need affection or have time for themselves in their weekly routine.

It will be shown the viability and the necessity of creating such spaces, in each local community.

We will talk about the need for each woman to spend 10% of her time on her own or for sharing with other women.

We will contemplate the remaining possibilities, the sacredness and the channeling that exists during the menstrual period.

Content

The Workshop will have a theoretical and practical aspect, that is, experience of self-help as well as help to others.

Theory: origins of the red tent tradition, roots of patriarchy, where did we go wrong, claiming our rights, the role of rituals, the purpose of the T V and what it is not, how to succeed and sustain a Tent. Solidarity versus competition, unity versus isolation, valuation versus judgment, intimacy versus taboos.

Practice: Experiencing a range of activities suitable for a red tent space, ideas, sensibilities, focus, repertoires, initiations to menarche, Check-ins, sensitivity, rest, singing, dancing, celebrating.

Saturday: Self-Initiation; Acceptance of Personal Femininity;

Sunday: Tools needed to guide and facilitate an open space where there is growth as well as full acceptance.
